Mashgin Monthly Feb 2025

Welcome to Mashgin Monthly - a quick summary of what's new at Mashgin.

January’s focus was giving clients more detailed reporting options and improving the posing process to make training new menu items faster and easier.

Reporting and Analytics Upgrades

Users rely on cloud.mashgin.com to view sales and category insights from anywhere in real-time. January’s feature upgrade makes it easier to dig into the details across multiple locations and timeframes, and allows for more detailed data exports without requiring the use of the reporting API.

Time Range Reporting

Analyze individual events and times of day

Users can now narrow their reporting timeframe to periods as short as 30 minutes.

Mashgin Cloud Customer Time Range

This opens up a few great use-cases.

Report on different events on the same day

Stadiums, music venues, or cultural spaces often have multiple events on the same day, and want to understand how each impacted their concessions sales. With custom time ranges, now they can quickly run a separate report for each event based on start and end times. This is also helpful to isolate events that go past midnight into a single report.

Find trends in different dayparts

This update makes it easier to explore specific sales trends that happen at different parts of the day. Now you can quickly see your top selling items, discounts, and tagged groups for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or any other spike in your regular traffic.

Group Spreadsheet Exports

Save time downloading every location at once

Mashgin users can already view data at the individual site level or group locations together on cloud.mashgin.com. For example, reporting sales at an individual concession stand or for the entire stadium.

Now when viewing a group of locations, users can export individual spreadsheet reports for all of those locations at once. This includes both summary reports and item reports. Each location will represented as a tab to the Excel spreadsheet.

Bigger, More Detailed Transaction Reports

Detailed transaction data without an API

Many clients want granular access to transaction data, but may not have the time or technical expertise handy to use our graph API to get it.

Transactions exports now include more detailed  information - including items, discounts, tags, payment, and stored value information. Export an unlimited number of transactions at once, limited to 10,000 transactions in a single CSV. If you exceed 10,000, multiple CSV files will download.

This gives more access to key information for all users, directly from Mashgin’s Cloud.

More Detailed Item Sales Summaries

Quickly understand what’s driving sales

Item Sales Summary reports now include associated tags and the total discounts (sum of all discounts in a time period) for each item.

Including tags makes it easier to quickly understand which specific items are driving sales in a particular category. Adding total discounts helps teams understand if a sale is doing the heavy lifting or if a discounted guest (like season ticket holders) is buying more of a specific item or category.

**NOTE: Discount totals will only tally discounts that occurred on or after Feb 6th, 2025.

Training New Menu Items is Easier than Ever

Posing new items is now faster, smoother, and performs better on slow or intermittent internet connections. Here’s the breakdown:

Asynchronous Pose Uploads for Faster Posing: You no longer have to wait for item poses to upload to the cloud before you continue posing the next item. This will save time when adding several new items at once.

Automatic Dot Code Detection for Easy Assignment: No need to use Creator to assign a dotcode. Just stick it on a container and then put it on the kiosk while on the items menu to assign it to a new item.

A Cleaner Menu Design: The items menu no longer shows inactive items and has different icons to indicate barcoded, non-barcoded, and packaged variations. The posing menu now makes key information more visible.

Fewer Barcode Scans: We removed the extra “confirmation” barcode scan for items when you navigate to them using a barcode scan.

That’s it for this month. Tune in at the start of March for more Mashgin updates. And if you can’t get enough Mashgin info, be sure to check out the rest of our blog
